Hey there, I’m Marshella. And I became a therapist because I needed someone like me growing up—and didn’t have her.
I know what it’s like to carry pain you can’t put into words. I’ve lived through childhood trauma, deep grief, anxiety, and the kind of emotional heaviness that doesn’t just fade with time. When I lost my brother to gun violence in 2004, my entire world shifted. That heartbreak cracked something open in me—not just sorrow, but purpose. It was the moment I knew my path wasn’t criminal justice. It was healing.
Before founding Mind Your M.I.N.D. Counseling, I spent more than a decade serving youth in underserved communities, foster care, military families, and people who’ve often been overlooked or written off by broken systems. Again and again, I saw clients give up on therapy—not because they didn’t want to heal, but because they didn’t feel truly seen or heard.
That’s why I built this practice—with you in mind.
Here, therapy isn’t about checking boxes. It’s about creating space for real people to feel safe, understood, and empowered. I bring clinical expertise, yes—but also lived experience, deep empathy, and a fierce belief in your capacity to heal.
